The NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation is a practical, NRA-certified training that teaches new gun owners and novice shooters how to handle and operate a particular kind of pistol safely. Covering subjects like safety regulations, pistol components, ammunition, shooting basics, and cleaning and storage, the minimum three-hour course combines classroom instruction with live-fire training. Before beginning live-fire practice on a range, students can practice with a laser or a simulator that can simulate recoil.

Through a combination of classroom training and live fire on a range, the NRA Basic Pistol Course Instructor-Led (ILT) imparts the knowledge, skills, and attitude required for safe handgun ownership and use. Gun safety regulations, handling, handgun operation, ammunition knowledge, shooting fundamentals such as grip, posture, and trigger control, as well as maintenance and safe storage, are all included in the curriculum. After finishing a final shooting qualification and receiving the NRA Guide: Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting manual, students are awarded a certificate of course completion.

An instructor-led NRA CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) course covers firearm safety, pistol selection and handling, drawing from concealment, basic defensive shooting, handling stoppages, cultivating a defensive mindset, and comprehending applicable laws. It also teaches the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude for carrying a concealed pistol for personal defense. For students of all skill levels, these practical courses combine classroom learning with time spent at a live-fire range.

Obtain your NJ carry with a 4hr Class focusing on basic gun knowledge, and the NJ curriculum. Must Pass with shooting score of 80% or better.

Obtain your Utah carry with a 4hr Class focusing on basic gun knowledge, and the Utah curriculum. NO live fire required. (Usually used to carry in DE)
